Do I need design experience to do a BDA course?

Not at all. The great thing is that our courses are suitable for all levels - from beginners to those dreaming of a career in interior design! British Design Academy's Certificate course and 'How To...' series of Workshops have been created for beginners who would like an basic understanding of the principles of design so as to make confident, creative decisions. Our Masterclasses and the British Design Academy's Diploma courses lead nicely on from the introductory courses, and for those who have had some experience of design in practice.

What will the 'take aways' be at the end of the course?

Lots of inspiration! :) Plus, you'll have the mood boards, drawings, models, etc that you will have created during the class(es).

What materials/equipment do I need to be able to do the course(s)?

For the Workshops and Masterclasses, learning materials are provided. For the British Design Academy Certificate and Diploma courses, some specialist materials and equipment (ie drawing boards, portfolios, scale rulers, technical pens, etc) will be required; you will be sent a 'Materials and Equipment' list prior to commencement of the course.For some of the sessions, we may ask you to prepare a small piece of homework. When we do, this will only take you between 15-30 min to prepare. Details will be emailed to you ahead of the session. Where the course has multiple sessions, we will share the information in the preceding class.

For the Workshops and Masterclasses, learning materials are provided. How are the courses delivered?

British Design Academy courses are delivered online, via blended modules that include live presentations, facilitated sessions and self-directed learning. We will email you details specific to your course as part of your booking confirmation.

And from Spring 2022, the British Design Academy will be hosting residential courses. Based in our beautiful home city of Bath, the cultural UNESCO World Heritage Centre, you can come learn about design whilst surrounded by some of the world's most iconic statements of style!

How do I access the courses online?

You will be sent a link via email, which you can then access via your desktop, tablet or phone.

Can I take the course if I don’t live in the UK?

Yes. British Design Academy courses are available internationally.

Are courses accredited?

The British Design Academy offers non-accredited vocational design courses. On completion of the Certificate and Diploma courses you will receive a certificate of completion from British Design Academy. To achieve a certificate, you must attend at least 80% of the course and complete all modules.

How do I book onto a course?

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. A gift voucher is the perfect present for any design enthusiast, or as a fun housewarming gift and/or a unique wedding present. You can purchase gift vouchers from the British Design Academy shop. All gift vouchers are redeemable against any course, masterclass or workshop.

What is your refund policy?

The British Design Academy offers a refund up to 10 days after confirmation of your place has been emailed to you and providing the course commencement is no less than 28 days. Please check our T&C's for full details.
